Southern Cross Austereo’s ‘Give me 5 for kids’ fundraising drive presented $6,955.37 to West Gippsland Hospital.
Children and young people who need to stay in West Gippsland Hospital’s Paediatrics Unit are set to enjoy a refurbished playroom area.

Southern Cross Austereo’s ‘Give me 5 for kids’ fundraising drive presented $6,955.37 to staff to fund new furniture and toys.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group Nurse Unit Manager, Franca Di Sisto, said the donation would make a big difference to the play area which is accessed by children of all ages.

“We recently had a new wide screen television donated to us for the playroom and this current donation from Austereo will allow us to purchase new furniture to complete the space which will increase comfort for patients and their families and allow us to deliver a more holistic service.”

Southern Cross Austereo Gippsland General Manager, Scott Lennox, said ‘Give me 5 for Kids’ was a great way for the community to support their local hospital.

“We raised a total of $13,910.74 from our 2017 campaign which is being shared between West Gippsland Hospital and Latrobe Regional Hospital to assist children and babies.”
Planning is underway to conduct another ‘Give me five for kids’ fundraiser in June this year.

“We had a terrific response to our campaign last year and are hoping to double the donation total this year by conducting additional events and involving schools and groups to join in.
It’s a great way for people to support their local hospital,” he said.
